Well we finally made it to Buck Hall Campground just north of Charleston. I started making reservations in early August for our trip. This was the earliest full week I could get at Buck Hall. All the reservations before this one winding around in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina were all set to get us here at this time. Next time I want to camp here I will get my reservation about six months in advance which is as far out as they will let you reserve these sites.
This is a small but beautiful park sitting on the Intracoastal Waterway. There are lots of Palmettos and live oak trees adorned with Spanish Moss. It's just a short walk to the Intracoastal Waterway to fish or go crabbing. I didn't get any cooperation from the weather to try and go crabbing. Most of the days were overcast and in the mid 50's and the wind is pretty constant at around 14 miles an hour. I don't know what that equates in chill factor, but it wasn't pleasant. Only the day before and the day we left were fit to be outside.
I took some decent pictures if you want to check them out in the gallery. I had a lot of fun trying to get pictures of a hawk the was trying to get a grey squirrel. I got a few good pictures of him. I think my interference kept him from getting his meal. I even got one picture of the lucky squirrel.
Like I said, the only good days to be out were the day we left and the day before. We took advantage of the mild weather on Tuesday, the day before we left and went out to dinner at our favorite restaurant. If you ever get to Charleston, you have to eat at The Waters Edge Restaurant on Shem's Creek. We've eaten there many times. We took Mom and Dad/Grandma and Poppy there in 2013 while we were all in Charleston for a Ships Reunion. We had as always great food and a great time.
Next stop is Ft. McAllister Campground in Savannah Georgia.
